REMSEN — The MMCRU girls and boys golf teams swept medalist and meet wins against West Sioux on Thursday, navigating the Remsen Golf Course for the first time of the season. The previous three meets hosted by the Royals were played in Marcus.

MMCRU seniors Jadyn Young and Kyler Bork won respective medalist honors in the War Eagle Conference meet.

Young completed her best nine-hole score of the season with 50, earning medalist honors for the first time in 2024. Bork earned medalist honors for the second time this season, finishing with a round of 40, two strokes from his season-best 38 he shot on April 2 versus Remsen St. Mary’s when he also won medalist.

The MMCRU girls made it four consecutive meet wins versus West Sioux, winning by 43 strokes 223-266 on Thursday. It also marked the third straight meet win on the season for the Royals girls — Trinity Christian and George-Little Rock being the previous two.

Other MMCRU scores were Cassie Weiler (56), Sidney Krier (57) and Alyvia Olson (60).

Low round of the meet for West Sioux was senior Autumn Beach with a 58.

MMCRU stands 10-6 on the season, West Sioux falls to 3-14.

MAKE IT FOUR STRAIGHT

Just like the girls, the MMCRU boys golf team made it four consecutive meet wins against the Falcons of West Sioux, winning 161-189. It marked the Royals sixth dual meet of the season where the team finished 170 or under.

On a day of wet conditions, everything seemed to go right for MMCRU. Sophomore’s Michael Schmillen and Kamden Bork also fired rounds of 40 and the final counting tally for the Royals was Brayden Olsen’s round of 41.

The best round of the meet by a West Sioux player was junior Charlie Houlton with a 41.

MMCRU improves to 5-4, while West Sioux record dips to 2-9.
