Ridge View teams finish runner-up in Westwood Rebel Relays

SLOAN — It turned out to be a well represented Westwood Rebel Relays on Friday as 12 schools competed on the girls side and another nine schools on the boys.

The Ridge View girls were in position to earn the team crown only to have Woodbine hang on for the narrow 100.333 to 98 win over the Raptors. The Ridge View boys also copped a second place finish, winding up behind the host Westwood boys. Team scores were Westwood 142, Ridge View 98.

Senior Madison Stowater got things rolling for Ridge View winning the high jump with a height of 5-03. In running events, senior Rowan Jensen won the 100 meter hurdles in a 16.77 clocking.

Jensen also anchored the Raptors’ winning Shuttle Hurdle Relay. Teaming up with Jensen was Tatum Shepherd, Gabi Mason and Faith Freese. The foursome posted a 1:07.42 winning time.

The final event win for the Raptors lasses was the 4×200 Meter Relay made up of Mason, Shae Dutler, Arissa Kretlow and Taya Phillips with a 1:52.99 clocking.

When all was said and done the Ridge View girls had Top-6 scoring place finishes in 16 of the 19 events.

TRIO OF WINS FOR RAPTORS’ BOYS

There was a total of 44 points separating Westwood and Ridge View in the team standings, but it was still a good day for the Raptors winning three events and collecting Top-6 place finishes in a total of 15 events.

Sophomore Carter Todd cleared the High Jump bar at 6-02 for the win. Senior Cayden Clausen heaved the lead ball a winning distance of 53-11.25 in the Shot Put. The Raptors’ Distance Medley Relay of Raif Jensen, Lucas Heilman, Zach Kolpin and Jack Todd earned gold with a 3:45.06 clocking.
