Many times over the last three years God, My Heavenly Father has looked out and taken care of me with numerous health concerns.

Most recently, I been sleeping a lot due to tiredness/fatigue and overall weakness of my 62-year old body. This is why posting have been very inconsistent for Iowa Prep Illustrated.

On Tuesday, May 11 it was discovered my kidney weren’t functioning properly. Doctors said the issue needed to be taken care of immediately to prevent renal failure, which can be fatal if left untreated. My bladder had expanded to roughly three times its normal size. A surgeon at Spencer Hospital had to surgically implant a catheter into my bladder. A simple procedure did not work as my prostrate was blocking a clear passageway for urine through my urethra, as it was pressing against my bladder. At the same time, I was experiencing a bowel obstruction. Days later, I got infection. It has really slowed me down, overly rundown.

My first signs of health issues began back in the fall of 2017 when I spent 17 days in the University of Iowa Hospital, and another medical facility isolated with a bacterial infection. I lost nearly 40 pounds during that period.

In 2018, I began loosing feeling in my left side, along with experiencing nagging to disabling pain in my lower neck and upper back region. That diagnosis continues today to be a degenerative condition of vertebrae/disks (DDD), leaving me now as a fall risk by doctors, and having to use a cane or walker. I was scheduled for surgery in November of 2023, but it had to be cancelled. I experienced my second heart issue in Doctor Vandelune office in the later part of September of 2023.

Associated with this degenerative condition, I on June 27 of this year, had an EMG done. The EMG revealed I have nerve damage on my left side of my body, focused mostly in my arm and hand. A follow up with the neuro surgeon (Dr. Johnson) at CNOS out of Dakota Dunes (SD) is slated for July 17th.

On July 1, 2021 at roughly 10:20 AM, I was rushed to the local hospital and transferred to Unity Point Health St. Lukes in Sioux City having suffered a myocardial infarction. Following surgery, I was told by family and doctors I was extremely lucky. I had four stints placed in my left anterior descending (LAD) artery, commonly referred to as “The Widowmaker.”

Unrelated to my health, My God has protected me against dislike and even hatred by some over recent years. He’s watched over me as some individuals have spread some factual, but mostly unfactual/non truthful information about myself, even wishing harm or ill-fate upon me, based on their assumptions. My God has protected and guided me through all these trails.

I experience from severe depression — even been diagnosed with PTSD.

I wear my feelings on my sleeve. I’m often outspoken. I freely express my views, easily get agitated, and are stubborn in many ways.

Each and every day, I can tell myself I’m a Christian. A red-blooded American. I have sought forgiveness for my sins and My God has answered those prayers. Each and everyday, I strive to become a better man, of better health.
